Theme: Pi Day
Project: 365 Days 2017 AH
The theme today is Pi Day!! Check out what I found out online…
> National Pi Day is observed annually on March 14th. The 3rd month and the 14th day of the year is a consistent day to celebrate the mathematical constant π. Also known as pi, the first three and most recognized digits are 3.14.
> On Pi Day, pi enthusiasts wear clothing adorned with the pi symbol, eat pie, and even throw pi-related parties. The concept of pi is important to mathematics because of its relationship to the circle; it is a constant representing the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
> It is a theorem in geometry that if you take any circle and divide the circumference of the circle by the diameter you always get this same number which we denote by the Greek letter “π” (pi). π is known to be an irrational number. That means that the decimal expansion never ends and has no repeating pattern.
*I wonder if my models today are happy because we have snow on the ground!! Since we have not had any since December!
